Emergency Care

A patented clear aligner system, Invisalign® is an alternative to fixed metal braces.

The treatment involves using bespoke clear aligners, which are changed every week. The aligners are made of smooth, recyclable plastic, fitting comfortably over each tooth groove.

Using cutting-edge 3D digital scanning and planning technology, we can create bespoke Invisalign® aligners that straighten your teeth into a naturally beautiful smile. This completely wire and metal-free system is patient-orientated, allowing you to take the aligners out for eating and brushing your teeth.

Treatment Overview

Purpose: To straighten teeth (crowded, misaligned, gapped teeth, underbites & overbites).
Lasts for: Permanent (with ongoing use of retainer).
Type of treatment: Orthodontic/cosmetic.

The benefits of Invisalign®

Eating made easy

Invisalign®, instead of metal braces, allows you to remove the aligners before eating. This means no alternations to your normal diet are necessary, unlike if you were to opt for metal braces.

Comfortable teeth straightening option

Invisalign® is totally metal-free. Whilst metal braces use metal brackets and wires, Invisalign® is made from smooth, custom, moulded plastic that fits snugly against your teeth, making each aligner easy to get used to.

No brushing and flossing complications

The removable nature of the aligners allows easy brushing and flossing – simply take your aligners out each time you want to brush and floss (always remember to put them back afterwards so you don’t slow down your treatment).

Invisible (almost!)

Invisalign® (as the name denotes) is a discreet treatment, as transparent plastic is used. Feel confident throughout your treatment, as it’s likely that your aligners will go unnoticed by others.

Treatment Process

Step 1: Invisalign® consultation

Our dentists will ask you a few questions about your treatment expectations with Invisalign® and explain how the process works. They will outline the advantages of Invisalign® over fixed metal braces and establish your suitability for treatment.

If Invisalign® is the right course of action, your dentist will proceed by taking 3D scans of your teeth. These are used to create a customised Invisalign® plan and show you a highly accurate mock-up of your smile after treatment.

Step 2: Teeth straightening

The 3D scans are sent away to the pioneers at Invisalign®, who create your customised aligners. Once we receive these, you can come in to collect them, and your dentist will explain how to insert your aligners and how often you need to come in for a review to check the progress of your Invisalign journey (typically 6-8 weeks).

Step 3: Wearing your retainer

You will need to wear a retainer each day after completing the aligner-wearing period. Your retainer is custom-made and should be worn at night while you sleep.

What can Invisalign® fix?

invisalign before after

Crowded teeth

Crowded teeth are a condition where you do not have enough room for your teeth to fit normally. This can cause plaque or tartar and other harmful bacteria to build up as it is harder for you to brush and floss well.

invisalign before after

Gaps between teeth

Gaps between teeth are when there is extra space between two or more of your teeth. This can cause pockets between your teeth and gums and can cause food to get stuck, making them tender and sore. This might also lead to gum disease.

invisalign before after

Open bite

An open bite is when your upper and lower teeth don't touch when you close your mouth. An open bite can make it hard for you to chew or bite even the most common foods, like apples.

invisalign before after

Underbite

An underbite is when you close your mouth, and your lower front teeth are in front of your upper teeth. In many cases, this is actually a problem with your lower jaw being too far forward. An underbite can make it hard to chew properly and speak clearly, and it might cause your teeth to wear down more quickly.

invisalign before after

Overbite

An overbite is when your upper front teeth overlap with your lower front teeth. Most people have at least a little overbite. When your overbite is too large, your doctor might tell you you have a deep bite. This can cause problems, from your teeth wearing down to pain in your jaw.

invisalign before after

Crossbite

A crossbite is when you close your mouth, and yet some of your upper teeth sit inside your lower teeth rather than on the outside. A crossbite can make your teeth wear down or chip. It can also make your gums start to recede or make little notches above your gum line. This kind of damage can lead to painful gum problems or even bone loss.

FAQs

1. What is the treatment process?

Invisalign treatment starts with a consultation with an Invisalign-trained doctor. Your doctor will evaluate your smile and then map out a precise, customised digital treatment plan that showcases the step-by-step transformation of your smile. Once you approve your plan, your unique aligners will be created. You will wear each set of aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, changing to a new set of aligners every 1 to 2 weeks, as directed by your doctor. Each set of aligners will gently and gradually shift your teeth into place, according to your treatment plan, until you reach your beautiful new smile.

2. How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Depending on the complexity of your case, you could complete your treatment in as little as 6 months. But you’ll start seeing results in a matter of weeks.

3. What is Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign treatment is the process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. There are no brackets and wires and no restrictions that come with metal braces.

4. What are Invisalign clear aligners made of, and what do they look like?

Invisalign clear aligners are made of flexible plastic — specifically, a patented thermoplastic material called SmartTrack, created exclusively for Invisalign treatment.

5. How will Invisalign treatment straighten my teeth?

Your Invisalign Doctor will create a unique, digital treatment plan that maps out the exact movements of your teeth. Your Invisalign clear aligners are then designed to apply the right amount of force to the right place at the right time based on your plan. Your Invisalign Doctor will be with you every step of the way to monitor your progress and ensure your aligners fit correctly.

6. What are the primary benefits of Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign clear aligners are virtually invisible — people may not even notice you’re wearing them. You can remove them to eat and drink, brush and floss, or for special occasions. There are no metal brackets or wires that could irritate your mouth or break.

Unlike other brands, Invisalign clear aligners are made from patented SmartTrack material, which is more comfortable and provides a better fit. Invisalign aligners are also trimmed based on your gum line for comfort and appearance. As the world’s most advanced clear aligner system, we have successfully improved over 8 million smiles, including 1.4 million teen smiles.

7. Am I guaranteed to have straight teeth with Invisalign treatment?

Every smile is unique, so your Invisalign treatment starts with a consultation. During your consultation, your Invisalign Doctor will help you determine what Invisalign treatment could do for your smile. We cannot guarantee a particular treatment outcome but encourage you to share your treatment goals with your Invisalign Doctor at your consultation.

8. Can I get Invisalign when pregnant?

Yes, you can start your treatment during pregnancy. It’s non-invasive and safe, but we recommend discussing all dental treatments with your obstetrician first, to ensure they agree it’s safe to proceed during pregnancy.

9. Will Invisalign change my jaw?

Invisalign can influence jaw positioning by correcting how your teeth align and meet. While it is not specifically intended to reshape the jaw, it can help improve bite issues and, as a result, potentially impact jaw alignment and function.

10. Will it affect my speech?

Some people may notice a slight lisp when they first start wearing the aligners. This is usually temporary and most patients quickly adapt to the aligners and speak clearly within a few days.

11. Is Invisalign cheaper than braces?

The cost of Invisalign is generally comparable to that of traditional braces. The exact cost can vary depending on the complexity of your case and the length of treatment. We can provide a cost comparison during your consultation.

12. Will Invisalign affect my diet?

Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign doesn’t require you to change your diet. Since the aligners are removable, you can eat and drink whatever you like.
Just make sure to remove the aligners while consuming anything other than water and to maintain good oral hygiene.
